Pat dry with a clean towel then apply antibacterial ointment. Cover with a sterile bandage and tape securely as your new tattoo is an open wound now that can be a breeding ground for bacteria and infection.Cleanse it more frequently if you get sweaty or dirty.
Clothing will irritate a new tattoo therefore be sure to keep it bandaged. If bandages stick to the tattoo, soak it in cool water until the bandage lets go on its own. Do not pull it off and next time use more ointment.
As a tattoo heals, it may itch. Do not stratch or pick your tattoo. Once the tattoo flakes, discontinue use of the ointment and bandages, and use Eucerin lotion to keep the skin soft.
Do not exposure your tattoo to the sun for at least 2 weeks and afterwards use a 30SPF skin sunblock. Sun’s ultraviolet rays can fade and damage a brilliant tattoo very fast. If you use a tanning bed, cover your tattoo.
Do not go swimming or hot-tubbling in fresh, salt or chlorinated water for 2 weeks. Also avoid long steaming showers to kepp your eye-catching tattoo vibrant for many years.
